Aliza Nickle (b. 2002) is an artist from Gumbaynggirr Country, Bellingen based in Naarm Melbourne. Aliza explores intergenerational creative practices existing within her matrilineal family. Her work specifically honours her grandparents’ approaches to ceramics, sculpture and collage examining how inherited knowledge and shared stories shape her aesthetic and material language. Through repetitive, labour-intensive processes with both manufactured and handmade materials she considers ideas of inheritance, homage and sentimentality. Aliza has shown within contemporary art organisations across Naarm including Conners Conners Gallery, TCB and Blindside.
